I grew up in the Midwest.
My parents took me to a performance of The Nutcracker when I was seven, and ballet became my passion. As soon as I was old enough, I moved to New York City to pursue my dream of becoming a dancer. While recovering from an injury, I discovered my other passions: acting and storytelling.
Highlights of my varied career include starring in a short film that won top honors at the Cannes Film Festival as well as receiving an OBIE Award for best ensemble for a piece called, A SIMPLE HEART with BIG DANCE THEATER.
As an actor, I love playing earthy and complex women with good hearts and good humor who are often struggling with the dark side of humanity. I believe if we can stand in someone else’s shoes, we can find compassion for ourselves and others. I am also a playwright.
I am currently working on my second solo play, Random Acts, which received the Best Storytelling Script award from the United Solo Festival in 2014. My play is published by Indie Theater Now.
I love to travel. As a child, I traveled throughout the United States and Canada with my family. As an adult, I lived in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and traveled throughout Europe.
One of my favorite travel experiences was going to Senegal, West Africa, where I spent time learning Senegalese dance.
I am currently a member of FAB Women of the Barrow Group. My first solo show, A WITNESS IN MY HOUSE, was accepted to the Edinburgh Festival. I have worked in theaters in New York and regionally: Dorsett Theater Festival, Boise Contemporary Theater, The Barrow Group, EST, Soho Rep, and The Ohio Theater.
